Areas of Expertise

  • Metabolic engineering as a tool for enhancing biological production of fuels and chemicals
  • Bioremediation: Nutrient removal and recovery of water from liquid wastes
  • Fermentation: Bioprocess design and optimization

Education

  • PhD in Applied Microbiology & Biotechnology, University of Westminster, 2010
  • M.S. Applied Microbiology & Biotechnology, University of Westminster, 2006
  • B.S. Applied Microbiology & Brewing, Enugu State University of Science & Technology, 2002

Victor received his bachelor’s degree in Applied Microbiology and Brewing from the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (Enugu, Nigeria). He obtained his master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Westminster, London, England. For his graduate work, he used ‘OMICS’ tools to investigate the underlying molecular mechanisms that drive strong biochemical responses during antagonistic interactions between fungal species. As a postdoc, Victor’s research work sought to increase the production of biofuels and bio-derived chemicals using metabolic engineering and bioprocess design. In 2016, he joined the Agricultural Technical Institute at The Ohio State University where he teaches classes in Bioenergy and Water Treatment Management. Victor’s research work continues to explore metabolic engineering and bioprocess design for enhancing biofuel production, biological treatment of organic wastes, and recovery of water from liquid waste streams.
