Charles received her Bachelor of Science in Soil and Water Sciences from Purdue University in 2019. She began her Master's work in the Fall of 2019 at the Ohio State in Columbus, being advised by Dr. Richard Dick. Her project continues research completed by the West African Shrub Initiative (WASI) by characterizing the mechanisms underlying a West African shrub intercropping system for millet in Senegal using controlled greenhouse experiments.
