Congratulations to Bryan Cassone for his new faculty position!

Bryan Cassone accepts faculty position

CAPS is excited to announce that CAPS Herta Camera Gross Postdoctoral Researcher Dr. Bryan Cassone has accepted a tenure track Assistant Professor position at Brandon University in Brandon, Manitoba.  Dr. Cassone earned his Ph.D. in vector entomology from the University of Notre Dame in 2011. At UND, he worked on ecological and evolutionary genomics of the malaria mosquito. This was some of the first work to quantify transcriptional changes in the early stages of ecological adaptation and shed new light into the importance of regulatory mutations in phenotypic change. His first postdoctoral position was at the USDA-ARS, where his research characterized some of the complex defense response mechanisms used by insects to combat plant virus infection.

Dr. Cassone started as a postdoctoral researcher at the OSU Center for Applied Plant Sciences (CAPS) SoyRes team in July 2011. Working for an interdisciplinary team of entomologists, plant pathologists, and agronomists, he used bioinformatics and genomics tools and approaches to explore the molecular interactions between soybean and its various pests and pathogens. His research interests also aimed to better understand how insect host symbionts influence plant pathogen transmission dynamics.

CAPS wishes Bryan the best in all his future endeavors!
