CAPS to sponsor Broader Impacts Workshop

The Center for Applied Plant Sciences is sponsoring a Broader Impacts Workshop on June 6th, 2018.  Broader Impacts (BI) are one of two criteria used to evaluate proposals submitted to the National Science Foundation. The activities that qualify as broader impacts are varied, and include K-12 education, community outreach, broadening participation in science, and workforce development to name a few. For many researchers, developing a robust broader impacts plan can be a challenge. This workshop will provide a valuable professional development opporutnity for the CAPS community, which includes an interdisciplinary group of faculty, staff, graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.

The workshop will be facilitated by trainers from the National Alliance for Broader Impacts. Topics to be covered include developing BI activities, BI resources, evaluation, broadening participation and more. There is no charge to attend the workshop, but space is limited. Attendees will be selected through an application process with priority placement given to current CAPS members, graduate fellows from the Translational Plant Sciences Graduate program, principal investigators and postdoctoral researchers. Apply by April 27th to be considered for this workshop. Contact Courtney Price with questions.
