CAPS & ABRC provide plant science programs to Circleville students
Staff from the Arabidopsis Biological Resource Center (ABRC) and the Center for Applied Plant Sciences (CAPS) facilitated two programs for students in Circleville City School District last week. On Tuesday, May 15th third through fifth grade students, along with high school volunteers and teachers, visited ABRC and CAPS facilities on Ohio State's West Campus. Students toured the greenhouse and participated in a number of hands-on activities highlighting plant sciences.
On Wednesday, May 16th staff drove to Circleville to participate in Circleville Middle School's STEM Day event. This is the third year that ABRC and CAPS have been a STEM Day partner. For this program, seventh grade students worked in small groups to extract DNA from applesauce before rotating through additional plant science stations.
ABRC and CAPS provide a variety of outreach and education programs including field trips, classroom visits, teacher workshops and community events. Contact us for more information!
