Open Enrollment: CAPS Portuguese "Travel/Survival" Course
CAPS, along with the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, are pleased to announce open enrollment for the newly developed CAPS Portuguese "Travel/Survival" Course. With ever increasing collaborations between OSU and the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, we want to provide “Travel/Survival” Portuguese instruction to our research community, focusing on the following areas:
· Transportation/Travel: Airports, Taxis, Currency, Time, Restaurants, Lodging
· Vocabulary: General, Laboratory, Plant Science, Technical
· Basic Grammar
· Brazilian Culture/ Intercultural Competency

When:
Registration Deadline: Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 12:00pm
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00pm-5:00pm
First Day of Class: Tuesday, June 9, 2015
Last Day of Class: Thursday, December 10, 2015

Columbus Campus Only
Rightmire Hall, CAPS Conference Room, 102
What to Bring:
Personal laptop, notebook, writing utensil
(no text book or materials to purchase)
What to Expect:
Short Quiz every 2-3 weeks
Approximately 15 mins. of online homework per class
Very hands on instruction with small group, oral and writing projects
Miss no more than 1 scheduled class per month for passing attendance grade
IMPORTANT:
Much planning and resources have been dedicated to the development of this course, in addition, class size is limited to 20 seats (first come, first serve), therefore, we expect registrants to commit to the entire length of this "free" course. Additional registrations will be accepted but placed on a waiting list. Instructors confirm registration or wait list status. Registrants who fail (determined by instructor grading and student attendance) or withdraw will be responsible for remitting $250.00 to the Center for Applied Plant Sciences (CAPS) from personal or University funds.
